Hello to all our Taters fans and friends,

Well, we have a big announcement. After ten years of singing, playing, writing, recording, touring, and laughing together it’s time for The Sweet Potatoes to close this chapter of our creative lives.  During this decade we’ve all had individual projects we’ve been working on, and now it’s time to focus on those creative ventures.

All three of us are still good friends and we have no regrets about the time we spent together. On the other hand, it’s hard to say goodbye to this chapter.

We’re so grateful for the support and inspiration we’ve received from you; our friends, families, fans and folks who have booked us.  You’ve been with us since our first baby steps, and part of the journey as we’ve grown and developed musically. We count your friendship as one of the blessings along the way.

You can still contact us through our Facebook pages and websites, and our music will continue to be available on CD baby, or streamed on Spotify and Pandora.

Although it’s hard to move on we’ll cherish our friendships with all of you forever.

It’s been a great ride.  Thanks for taking the trip with us.
See you down the road,
Kelly, Laura, Rick

The Sweet Potatoes come out of Southern California to dish up their own unique blend of country, folk and homespun Americana. Featuring acoustic guitars, ukulele, accordion and harmonica, this trio will bring a smile to your face with their sweet harmonies and finely crafted songwriting. Their music has a back porch charm all its own.

Kelly Macleod (songwriter, guitar, and vocals) and Laura Hall (songwriter, guitar, accordion, ukulele and vocals) came together first as songwriters who also love to sing together.Rick Hall (bass, harmonica and vocals) joined the band after the first year.

All three have been in show business in one way or another for years.  Kelly cut her teeth singing in the band Private Life, who toured with and had three albums produced by Van Halen in the 80s. Laura is best known as the pianist on the long running hit TV show, Whose Line Is It Anyway, and came up in the acoustic music scene in Chicago.  Rick's day job is as an actor on TV, doing everything from Centrum commercials, to NCIS, to over 20 episodes of KC Undercover.

But this is the music they love, the music they grew up listening to, and love to play.  Kelly and Laura write write original songs rooted in the family ties that made them the women they are today; songs about finding and appreciating love, having faith, family and home. Their writing is influenced by strong female singer/songwriters such as Emmylou Harris, Patti Griffin and Linda Ronstadt.  They're also inspired by bands on the contemporary acoustic scene like Red Molly, The Wailin' Jennys and Old Crow Medicine Show.

The Sweet Potatoes do concerts around the country, meeting new folks and having a good ole time. They often play live as a trio, but sometimes they're lucky enough to be joined by Steve Borgard on dobro, harmonica and banjo, or other guest artists. They love playing shows and connecting with a live audience, with Rick often adding his funny, freewheeling storytelling.

The Sweet Potatoes have played at festivals, colleges, coffeehouses, house concerts, churches, theaters and yes, even an Easter Egg Hunt, playing tasty selections of originals, traditional tunes, and fresh takes on cover songs you know and love.  Wherever they perform, it's clear they not only make great music together, but also have a lot of fun on stage.

"The Sweet Potatoes diversity in grooves and lyric content is such a refreshing sound, yet very rootsy in the style of The Trio (Linda RondstadtDolly Parton & Emmylou Harris)" - Chris Cooke, host of "Acoustic Lounge"
