A few weeks ago I did something on Facebook I rarely do, I asked almost all of my FB friends to “like” our page. I was blown away by the number of people that liked us. But, it's not all about the numbers, even though with Facebook we all can get caught up in the stats; how many people “liked” my status or how many people viewed my post? FB keeps asking me if I want to pay to boost my post so I can get higher numbers. But for me the most satisfying thing was the fact that several of my FB friends that “liked” actually became fans... they really do “like” us.
One buddy of mine that I have known for years, lets call him Vern, (since that is his name) found out he really loves our music. He said, “I'm not the kind of guy who is becomes a fan of anything but I'm a Sweet Potatoes fan now. Why didn't you tell me about your music earlier?” Vern came to our next show even though it was a fairly long drive. I learned two things. First, your virtual friends can be tangible, “come to your show”, kind of friends. And second, don't hesitate to ask someone to be your friend. Very few of us have too many friends.
